Score + Solder A/W’14: Clean lines and simple proportions Evie SwitzerNovember 5, 20146 viewsdesignlifestyle0 Comments6 views Score + Solder recently announced the launch of their new lighting collection to be available this autumn/ winter, and it’s beyond impressive. After tremendous success with his line of terrariums and planters, Matthew Cleland has started designing table and pendant lamps in addition to his collection. Many of the shapes already lend themselves nicely as lighting so its just a matter of combining them with quality fixtures – there are of course new designs as well. Currently, Matthew resides on Pender Island, where he lives in the woods not far from the beach. All his work is made by hand using tra- ditional stained glass methods which he learnt from his father in a small town called Medicine Hat, Alberta. When he’s not cutting glass or soldering he’s hiking, skipping stones or looking after his huge vegetable garden. Founded in 2009, Score + Solder now features 15 unique terrarium and planter models. Each piece comes with a starter kit to help you create your own magical container garden. Matthew has collaborated on pieces with Assembly NY, Urban Outfitters and numerous private events all around the world. Score + Solder goods are available in fine boutiques across Canada, the US and Japan. They are also available to be shipped world wide through mail order at www.scoreand- solder.com Now approaching his 3rd year in production, Matthew finds himself working harder than ever. His work has appeared in publications such as the NY Times Magazine, Bloomberg Business Week and Tendencias Magazine. You can see his work on permanent display at the EdVarie gallery in NY and soon in Totokaelo’s Art + Object in Seattle. Evie Switzer Click here to visit the website.
