Shuttlecock Inc pop-up Carousel in Marylebone Stephanie AndersonSeptember 19, 20123 viewsStyle0 Comments3 views Welcome to Carousel, the new Marylebone home of foodie nomads, Shuttlecock Inc. Located within sniffing distance of Sherlock Holmes’ pipe, this stylish three-story space will play host to Shuttlecock’s unique adventures in flavour, design, performance and music for the next five years. Drawing on their experiences as purveyors of London’s most irreverent, multi-sensory pop-ups, Shuttlecock will also curate an imaginative and varied programme of fellow ephemeristas’ innovative concepts, welcoming into the fold foodie friends of all different shapes and sizes for an ever-changing carnival of taste. The plan? To create a destination that Londoners will associate with great fun, exceptional food and true originality, returning month after month to experience something new, different and exceptional. Step inside 71 Blandford Street and you might find the glamour and sophistication of 1950s air travel brought to life, Pan Am-style, by the Mile High cabin crew; witness two heavyweight chefs going head to head for three rounds of no-holds-barred culinary one-upmanship at their latest kitchen slugfest; or enjoy a five-course tour de force from one of their resident chefs in the relaxed and intimate dining room. Whatever the concept du jour, Shuttlecock want Carousel to be known for its exceptional food, its imaginative storytelling and its bacchanalian sense of fun. The venue is divided into three floors. An expansive basement, a light and airy ground floor and a bright upper level with windows on three sides. Street Level Home to Shuttlecock’s unique brand of foodie events, the ground floor will be Carousel’s showpiece – a warm and welcoming restaurant space with a rustic feel, built around a busy open kitchen and bar. With floor to ceiling windows on two sides and outdoor seating front and back, it will really come into its own in the summer months. There will be space for a ribald 50 or a more intimate 40. Downstairs A stylish and flexible event space which will play host to pop-ups, book launches, fashion shows and parties. Anything. With an industrial finish, there’ll be plenty of scope for drama and intrigue thanks to a professional lighting set up and a versatile layout. Oh, and there’s a kitchen too. Depending on the nature of the event, there’ll be room to squeeze in 150 revellers. Upstairs A blank canvass bathed in light. Ideal for day time events, exhibitions and screenings, this monochrome cube will have ample wall space and standing room for 100 people. All this just a stone’s throw away from Bond Street. Designed by Rise Design Studio, in partnership with Derwent London and The Portman Estate, Carousel is a first of its kind for the capital and the latest addition to Marylebone’s burgeoning restaurant scene.
