Simon Preen A/W’14: Metamorphosis Stephanie AndersonAugust 4, 20148 viewsdesignFashionStyle0 Comments8 views Collaborating along the way with the likes of Pam Hogg, Johnnie Blue Eyes, Jessie J and Ellie Golding, Simon Preen launched his eponymous self titled clothing label back in 2009. The designer has recently presented his new collection ‘Metamorphosis‘ for AW14/15. ‘Metamorphosis’ sees Simon’s signature dark, minimal aesthetic come to play with a clever juxtaposition of fluid, organic forms with intricate, complex patterns and high tech fabrications. Simon’s pieces are designed to empower women, the garments are tight but not restricting, allowing the wearer to move freely as if clothed in a second skin. As seen throughout the designers previous collections, a heavy use of symmetry returns, intricate web shapes mirror each other, equalised black lines draw the eye in to create a complex, balanced aesthetic. New updates for A/W’14 include high shine, metallic foils which play a key role in the collection. We see cosmic, iridescent fabrics come to play with the designers inimitable power mesh, spandex and matt black lycra. The new collection boasts heavy zip detailing throughout, allowing the pieces to change and morph from one shape to another allowing a level of diversity and change for the wearer. Simon Preen as a brand is going from strength to strength with a growing celebrity following including Kelis, findlay, girl group Little Mix, Chelsea Wolfe, Nero, FKA Twigs, and Ellie Golding.
