Renowned for her beautiful avant garde collections each season, Sorcha took the fashion industry by storm. Leaving Central St Martins in 2010, Sorcha O’raghallaigh had already made an astounding impact in the fashion industry.

Delving into mainly private bespoke work with clients ranging from names as famous as Lady Gaga. With Sorcha’s company publicised in prestigious magazines such as Vogue, Love, Dazed and Confused — just a small selection of the many names that did a spread on Sorcha’s dazzling work.

The ‘Forget Me Not’ collection is a breathtakingly mesmerising organza of garments, laced with netting and embellishments. The colour palette, an array of gold’s and creams, luxurious reds and royal blues all rich in shade and vibrancy.

An alluringly decadent collection with lace intertwined with silks and a gorgeous array of effervescent fabrics. With the collection displaying ornate and elaborate head dresses and veils incorporating floral and more futuristic influences. It’s a truly captivating array of designs with baroque detailing and elements of a seductive manner with models strutting in sheer fabrics.

Inspired by sculptures, Sorcha was particularly captivated by the Victorian sculptor Sir Alfred Gilbert. Especially a piece called ‘Eros’, an aluminum statue placed on a lavish bronze fountain, situated in Shaftesbury memorial in Piccadilly Circus. ‘Eros’ portrays the god of requited love, the bronze fountain translated into a colour palette of beautiful gold’s portrayed in Sorcha’s ‘Forget Me Not’ collection.

Using religious/mythological iconography as inspiration, you can see the research incorporated visibly in the more flamboyant looking pieces in the collection. From an extravagant gown to a sensual red number entwined with an abundance of gold and silver safety pins. Sorcha has really captured the essence of everyday tools being used to produce the most spectacular outcomes.
