When it comes to juxtaposition there are a few things that leap to mind; black and white, Alex Pardee’s artwork and even the city of London – with it’s towers of gleaming glittering glass situated next to an ancient architectural structure. This is what inspires A-Line.

Founded just last year by Anne-Sophie Kohler, A-Line plays pick-n-mix with pastel shades against dark colours, or mix and match with nappa leather and cotton sateen. Functional, daring angled cuts in a blocky outline are complemented perfectly with sheath dresses and soft billows. With everything from deconstructed jackets, simple shifts, glimpses of midriff and mid-length skirts, A-Line represents every part of the woman within us.

From the structural surround and exterior needed from a good blazer and collared shirt in our work lives, to flawless nude leather jackets and peek-a-boo detailed tops for our days off. A-Line gets us, gets what we want from clothing.

What is it we want from clothing you ask? Good quality fabric that is sustainably and locally sourced (all of the fabrics in A-Line’s collection are from within the EU), sexy, feminine shapes that makes us feel great about ourselves without feeling like we’re on display. Simple colours, simple shapes, simple details, but combined in a magnificent way that it stops being simple in the way we know it, and becomes incredible.

This collection is only a start to A-Line – how can it be anymore when it’s less than a year old? – and assuming they’ve started as they mean to go on, it’s only going to get bigger, better, bolder and more brilliant.
