The Changing Face of Charity Retail: ‘Style Me in Seconds’ Lina AyersMarch 4, 201611 viewsFashion0 Comments11 views Charity shops across the UK are showcasing their styling credentials to young people by offering free styling makeovers by professional stylists who have dressed Victoria Beckham, Emilie Sande and Professor Green. Style Me in Seconds will launch with a ‘pop-up’ from the 4th – 10th April 2016 at Old Street Underground Station. The Style Me in Seconds event offers free style make-overs, demonstrating the unique outfits that can be put together with a bit of digging through the treasure troves that are charity shops. The event is aimed at the younger consumers, specifically 16-24 and 25-34 year olds, who research shows are more likely to perceive charity shops stock as not ‘on trend’ or old fashioned and undesirable. The Style Me in Seconds team see fashion as fun, frivolous and a way to creatively express who we are as individuals and the stylists involved specialise in charity shop and vintage styling. The Style me in Seconds team of stylists include Hayley Simmons and Emma Slade Edmondson who have worked for a range of fashion magazines including Vogue, Red, Harpers Bazaar and Marie Clare. While the team recognise that people often find it easier to buy off the peg than to rifle through the rails of charity shops, the Style Me in Seconds event will show the public how to explore the wealth the shops have to offer. With a free style consultation, the stylists will demonstrate how to use charity shops to experiment with a new look, try a brand new style or simply get a taste of how styling themselves in charity shop pieces can add a unique twist to their outfits.
