The Ex-Bombers Bring Film Noir Style to Pop Music Tilly McCarthyMarch 9, 201611 viewsMusic0 Comments11 views We ran across a promotional film recently by a duo from America called The Ex-Bombers. The pair call themselves “film noir pop,” and the drummer and vocalist Keri Cousins certainly plays the role of the femme fatale. In the promotional film for their latest vinyl-only release, Cousins prepares for a “Five Star Night” with all of the trappings of a classic film noir character including a custom-made dress, leather gloves, dark lipstick, and even a riding crop (the hallmark of villain-y of course). After a bit of research it appears as if this was a typical wardrobe for Cousins on show nights, so we wrote and asked her what it was like to perform in full femme fatale attire. “I actually had to find a very specific dress. Something structured, and a bit severe, but would also breathe when I performed. Thus the number you see me touring the country in by Stop Staring!,” said Cousins. “Everything you see in the video is actually a part of our live show, from the gloves to the riding crop. Fashion has always played a role in the world we’re creating.” The video above gives a taste of The Ex-Bombers’ seedy world. Seems like a lovely place to sip some absinthe whilst records spin.
