With a range of impressive art installations, some of Britain’s most talented graduates, gifted musicians and delicious food, Shoreditch Fashion Show is definitely not your standard fashion affair. The bi-annual event presented by Offbeat promises to fuse together art, fashion and live music into one giant creative experience – and boy did it not disappoint!


Situated at The Oval space in the heart of east London, The Shoreditch Fashion Show gives emerging designers the chance to showcase their work in a unique and artistic environment. In January, Made in Shoreditch held a competition to find the most original and undiscovered talent out there. Contestants send in their designs, and after several stages of judging by both the general public and the judging panel, the finalists have the chance to display their designs at the show. This year saw six wonderful collections by Isabell Yalda Hellysaz, Nicolas Wirth, Marcelo Yarussi, Christina Tiran & Victoria Rowley, Maria Zhminko, and Rebecca Morter and Gemma Vanson. Kicking off with a range of billowing, kimono-like dresses with bold prints and unusual head-dresses by Wirth, Tiran and Rowley. The show was accompanied with the soft, sultry voice of Lydia Baylis who, together with an acoustic guitar, eased the audience into the show. As the designs became more dark and intense, so did the music – grungy netting, black PVC and futuristic space masks all graced the catwalk as XFM New Music Award finalists Kill It Kid headlined, rocking the place up with their underground, dirty rocky sound. Other performing artists included former The Voice contestant Vince Kidd, soulful vocalist Rufio Summers and a number of talented DJs who provided wonderful entertainment throughout the night.


      After the show, guests headed over to the patio for a spot of fresh air – decorated with glittered fairy lights, and vintage watering cans, the patio was buzzing full of chattering fashionistas drinking bubbly and chowing down on Breddo’s Tacos, the Mexican pop-up who provided all the luscious grub for the night. As the event was sponsored by Batiste, super talented hairdressers scattered the area creating luscious locks for attendees. The Shoreditch Fashion Show is certainly a unique and exciting experience that should be seen by all fashion lovers.
