Tiki: Luxor collection by Cécile Gilbert Avery ParkerJanuary 24, 20154 viewsFashionHandmadeJewellery0 Comments4 views Meet Cécile Gilber, the French designer and maker living and working in Brighton, UK, the designer launched Tiki in 2012 and launched the Luxor collection recently and we cant get enough of it. Her main medium is polyester resin, which she combines with oxidised sterling silver. Inspired by the glamorous Bakelite jewellery of the 1920s and 30s, Cécile creates bold pieces in luscious colours with a glossy finish. The designer enjoys playing with geometric shapes and abstract motifs by developing cutout and recasting techniques, you can see this within the Luxor collection. Taking inspiration from Ancient Egypt and the Art Deco movement, the Luxor collection comprises elegant chunky bracelets and reversible statement necklaces. All fitments are oxidised sterling silver. With its lozenge shape, the Luxor Bangle is a real statement piece. Displaying diamondesque facets in deep cherry red, burgundy and mustard yellow. The Luxor Necklace is reversible. One side ornate with bold stripes, the other with delicate polka dots offering you a playful choice of wear. Each piece of Tiki jewellery is entirely handmade by Cécile, from original moulds through casting, sanding and polishing to the application of sterling silver fitments. She also mixes her own pigments to create an original colour palette. No two pieces of Tiki jewellery are the same, each is unique. Avery Parker Click here to see the full collection.
