Transitional Pieces to See You Through to A/W’15 Sophie PrescottSeptember 2, 20152 viewsFashion0 Comments2 views With the sun still shining, you might think it a little early to start thinking about your winter wardrobe. However, with summer sales in full swing, autumn/winter stock will soon be filling the high street – regardless of the weather. Here are six pieces to take you seamlessly from season to season that you’ll want to invest in straight away. The Sleeveless Coat Asos, £48 Everyone from Victoria Beckham to Kendall Jenner has been seen rocking one of these – the sleeveless coat is an essential for autumn layering. From waterfall jackets to more tailored styles, pair your sleeveless jacket with a lightweight jersey top on those cooler summer days, or wear over knitwear later on in the year with skinnies and Chelsea boots. Effortless and chic! Boho Pieces Zara, £39.99 Seventies style and boho chic dominated the trends this summer, and luckily, you don’t have to say goodbye to those key pieces just yet. Burberry’s AW15 show at London Fashion Week showed us exactly how to take your folksy fringing and paisley prints through to the next season – just keep colours dark and again, get layering! Patterned Trousers Oasis, £42 These will look great with a strappy cami when the sun is shining, or can be dressed down with a jumper for those chillier evenings – again, the trick is to keep colours darker if you want to wear them into next season. Cigarette pants and slim fits work really well with a bold pattern, but to earn extra style points, invest in a pair of on-trend wide leg trousers. Midi Skirt Asos, £30 The midi skirt is the perfect length for in between seasons; sandals and crop top make for a stylish summer ensemble, while layered knitwear will keep you warm as we head towards the winter months. Don’t settle for a plain pencil skirt though; zips, pleats, sheer panels and asymmetric cuts can bring character to this staple piece – you’ll be spoilt for choice. Tailoring Next, £45 We’ve seen many androgynous looks over recent fashion weeks – for both men and women – so get suited and booted with some tailored pieces. These truly are investment pieces as tailoring never grows old, but it was also spotted as a recurring trend at A/W’15 shows – so you no longer need to leave tailored looks to the office! See Paul Smith and Boss for inspiration. Sheer Religion, £115 Think you’ve seen the last of your sheer kimono? Think again. Chloe showed us how to wear sheer fabrics without looking ready to hit the beach at their A/W’15 show, so don’t be too hasty to ditch your chiffon shirts and floaty dresses as we progress into the next season. Keep sleeves long and ditch bright colours to emulate this floaty, feminine look. Sophie Prescott
